Data Conversion/Migration
We work with our clients to determine the type and amount of data to migrate which always depends on the requirements of the organization. Again we have the tools and expertise to assist with any data migration requirements. Typically, for master files, we provide the client with the necessary data import templates. It is generally the client’s responsibility to provide our team with “clean” data for import – we do not do any validity checking except that the file before and after the import is identical. Sometimes, if the volume of data in a particular module, for example, a chart of accounts, is not too great, we advise the client to manually enter the data, as it could become very good practice for data entry later on. Again, this depends on the volume of data to be migrated. We include hours for import of master files in our services proposal, and we further refine which migrations will be done at the outset of the project.
Interface/Integration Development
If an interface or integration is required, we utilize standard integration tools and web services to create the mapping, scheduling and data logic. We have done hundreds of integrations – in fact, it is a very standard practice. We have also worked with many third party developers who have an external solution to our CRM/ERP solutions so that the fields and program logic are maintained, and we then deliver to the client an easy-to-use methodology for maintaining the integration, or we create an unattended integration which looks at the same location consistently to import the data. Ownership of the integration created with our standard tools always remains with the client, however, the technology to create the integration are industry-standard and shared among multiple clients.
